I have done a full install with activated licence. The charts look like they down loaded, but now I keep getting
an error message:
Error updating charts

Error downloading file 20120424212826

And this is in the box below:

Requested range not satisfiable
Requested range not satisfiable
Requested range not satisfiable
Requested range not satisfiable

If I hit "continue"
It says updating for about 20 seconds then repeats the error, including the same file number.

Help!

Hi Doug
This appears to be caused if the download and update of charts is stopped after completing the download but before the installation process starts. A fix is included in the next release.

To sort it for now:

Open windows explorer

In the address bar box type

%allusersprofile%\chersoft\nuno\

hit return

browse to the SENC folder (UKSENC for UK chart versions)

Then to install\download. (full path is %allusersprofile%\chersoft\nuno\SENC\install\download)

Move any file found here into the %allusersprofile%\chersoft\nuno\SENC\install\drop folder. (Use drag and drop or cut and paste)

Restart Nuno. The chart installation should procede.

Chris,
Thanks for the help.
I came out to the boat this weekend and started the program. It said I needed to download the charts. I said yes. It appeared to re-download the charts and start installing them. I now have detailed charts for my area, but the installer is stuck at 39%.
So it shows downloaded 100%
installing 39%

If I stop the program and restart, the install section starts at 0% and quickly goes to 39% then stops.

When I try your instructions I find no directories you have listed. I have two users on my new Windows 7 machine. me and public. When I manually browse these I find no directories like you list. The only Nuno directories are in program files folder.

What next?
Thanks

Doug

Hi
I suspect that the previous problem has resolved itself. Now you just need to wait for the updates to complete. The first chart download is large but is preprocessed to aid fast display. Subsequent updates are downloaded in the raw NOAA enc format and have to be processed on the pc. For some large and very detailed cells this can take a long time.
The processing is done in the background on a low priority so Nuno should still be usable whilst updating continues.

Chris

Chris,
I left the program up and running all day. Still says installing 39%.
Is this normal?

Hi Doug
Can you do the following?

With Nuno running start Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del then choose Task Manager), see if nuno.exe is using any CPU. If so how much?

Open Windows Explorer ('Start key'+E), in the Address bar type (or copy/paste)

C:\ProgramData\CherSoft\Nuno Navigator\SENC\LogENC

Email the log files found there to us at support@nunonavigator.com with a subject of Nuno Navigator Support Message

Hi Doug
We have isolated a problem when applying update 13.008 to cell US4MS10M. This is causing the update process to loop continuously. The cell update was issued by NOAA on May 4th.

For an immediate work around:
Close Nuno

Open Windows Explorer ('Start key'+E), in the Address bar type (or copy/paste)

C:\ProgramData\CherSoft\Nuno Navigator\SENC\install\Drop

delete the file 20120504204027.nunoUpdate

Restart Nuno.

This will apply the next update (from 7th May) leaving just cell US4MS10M out of date (at edition 13.007 instead of 13.008)

We will get a permanent fix for this issue and include it in the next release (due soon). We will also send you a patch to get this cell up-to-date.

Hi Doug
After further investigation, Nuno was not looping but was busy processing the update to this cell (US4MS10M). The coastline involved is very complex, and the data at an incredibly detailed scale - far more than is necessary for the display scale involved. One polygon has approximately 160000 vertices. A lot of processing is required to optimise display of this area.

So the update will finish eventually. The time taken will be very dependent on both available memory and CPU speed.

Our production server typically takes 26 minutes to process this cell, and less than a minute for most other cells. My workstation takes about 2 hours. A PC with low available memory would take much longer.

The cell is for the Luisiana coastline, near New Orleans.

We have several immediate options;

A) If you are not concerned with this cell, delete the file 20120504204027.nunoUpdate as previously instructed. This will defer the problem until the next time it is updated, by which time we hope to have the ability to select geographic areas for download/updating. We will also look to improve update processing for this type of cell.

B) If you do want it, either
1) let the update run to completion or
2) I can send you a pre-processed cell to manually copy into the cell folder.

Chris

Chris,
My problem at this point is the directories you want me to go to don't exist.

C:\ProgramData\CherSoft\Nuno Navigator\SENC\install\Drop
I have:
C:\Program Files\Nuno Navigator

In side that folder is:
help - folder
WVS - folder
Nuni - application

Overlaya.csarchive

regid.1999-01.uk.co.chersoft_6702A345-E8A3-43C6-8FD4-1EC89958463E.swidtag

That is all I have.
I have nothing in the user folders related to Nuno.

Do I have the wrong version?
Version 2,6,0,3 This version of Nuno was released on Thursday, March 01, 2012

Hi Doug
The folder C:\programdata is hidden by default. If you open Windows Explorer and type or paste the following line into the address bar
C:\ProgramData\CherSoft\Nuno Navigator\SENC\install\Drop

then press return, you should get there. We set permissions on C:\ProgramData\CherSoft\Nuno Navigator at installation time to make it accessible.

Another way of getting there would be to press the start key and 'r' and type or paste
C:\ProgramData\CherSoft\Nuno Navigator\SENC\install\Drop
into the run entry box then click ok.

Then follow the instructions above if you want to delete the Cell. Alternatively, if you just leave Nuno running it will eventually complete.

Chris,
Thanks for the help. I did find the directories the way you described. I just let the program run all last night and it did finish and now is operating perfectly normal. Having the ability to set up a region will be a welcome feature in the future, since these charts seem to take up a lot of power to process, and I will never use most of them.

Thanks again for your help with this. I love this program!
