Andy, I wonder if Nuno has the facility to send route information to our GPS? Our old systems have done this and I find it comforting. Two reasons. We have a back up of the route should the computer go pop and we can then turn off the power hungry computer. It also allows route info like XTE for example to be sent out to deck instruments. Any advice?

Yes. Use the Show button (top left) to get up the Overlays pane and find your route on there. Right click on the route and choose "Export". Up comes a window where you choose where your file will end up and it has a box labelled "Save as type" - switch that to "GPS Exchange Format Files (GPX)" and save a file.

A lot of plotters and GPSs can handle GPX. There are other conversion utility programs to get it into different formats.

You can also right click on the route and choose Copy to get a list of waypoints that you can paste into Word or something you can print from onto a piece of old fashioned paper as another backup.

e.g.

Route: Route #3
Waypoint: 50°04'21.9"N 4°09'55.5"W
Waypoint: 50°06'14.7"N 4°06'23.7"W
Waypoint: 50°03'31.9"N 4°03'43.2"W
Waypoint: 50°05'40.4"N 4°02'29.7"W

(that's not a real route - nobody follow it ;-)

AND In the next version you get route leg distances and bearings in that text as well so even more useful as an alternate record of your route.

Cheers,

Andy

Waypoint names or numbers would be useful too for a human to read
