We are firmly committed to maintaining the security and confidentiality of personal information collected in performance of our business relationship with you. CHERSOFT is registered under the Data Protection Act 1998.

Users of our services may be required to provide personal information, such as contact details, to enable us to provide you with the service you request from us. Where users have provided personal information, this will only be used to provide information on new products and services where there is a clear legitimate interest to do so, or where the user has given clear consent.

We may also capture information relating to your use of our services which may be traceable back to you. We will only capture and use this information where it is essential for the delivery of our service to you.

Security

CHERSOFT protects its products and services from cybercrime by design, ensuring it and its customers can feel safe in the knowledge that we host a stable and protected service which our customers can use safely. This is validated by independent testing and accreditation. We hold and maintain accreditaion under both UK Cyber Essentials and ISO/IEC_27001:2013.

Using the personal information we hold

When we ask you for personal information, we promise:

  • To only ask for what we need, and not to collect too much or irrelevant information.
  • To make sure you know why we need it.
  • To make reasonable checks that the information we hold is accurate and up to date.
  • To protect the information and make sure nobody has access to it who shouldn't.
  • To make sure we don't keep it longer than necessary.
  • Not to use your personal information for commercial/marketing purposes without either a legitimate interest or your clear consent.

In return, we ask you to provide us with accurate information and inform us about any relevant changes and updates as required.

Information that we collect

When you visit our website, and when you download anything from it, our servers automatically log information that your browser sends about itself whenever you visit a website. These logs may contain information such as your IP address, the type of browser software you are using, and the date and time of your request.

When you register on our website, we ask you for some personal information (such as your name and email address). We also record the fact that you purchased a license on this date.

When you log in to our website, we may store a cookie on your hard drive. We use this to remember who you are so that you can view and update your account details.

When you purchase a license, we record the date and time when you did so.

We do not store your credit card number. Your credit card number is securely handled by Sage Pay and we never have access to it.

When you activate Nuno Navigator using a purchased license, we record the fact that it was activated, along with the IP address of the computer it was activated from, and some information about your computer hardware components that allows us to identify this particular computer later.

Information sharing

We will only share your information with other companies or individuals in the following circumstances:

  • If you make a purchase, we will give your name and address to Sage Pay to help them process the credit card transaction for us.
  • If you use Nuno to purchase PRIMAR charts, we will provide details we hold on you to PRIMAR as part of the purchase process.
  • Nuno Navigator downloads NOAA charts and chart updates from our website. We may send statistics to NOAA about these downloads. These statistics will never contain any of your personal information.
  • If we need to send you email regarding your account we may use the services of a trusted third party company to send you these emails, and the emails may travel through other companies' internet servers before they reach you.
  • If we believe in good faith that we are required by law to disclose your information.
  • Other than the above personal information will not be passed to any third party outside our group of companies unless compelled to do so under a statutory obligation.

We may use your personal information within CHERSOFT to help us provide you with support if you contact us with questions.

We may use anonymized information from customers to help us improve our products and services and to help us develop new products and services.

Your Rights

  • At any one time, you can find out what information we hold about you and ask us to correct any mistakes.
  • At any one time, you can request to know the agreements we have with other third parties for sharing your information.
  • At any one time, you may request details on our complaints procedure and how to log a complaint.

Visitors to our websites

When someone visits our website we collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. From the information collected, data is extracted in order for us to look at specific elements such as the number of visitors to various parts of the site and improve our website by analysing how it is used. We collect this information in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our websites by associating any data gathered from this site with any personally identifying information from any source.

We will make it clear when we do collect personal information and will explain what we intend to do with it.

Use of Cookies

When you log in to our website, a temporary cookie is stored by your browser to enable you to browse the secure areas of the site without having to re-enter your credentials.

This cookie is only valid for this browser session, if you revisit again later, you will be required to log in again. If you close your browser window (tabbed browsers may behave differently, see your browser documentation), the cookie will be removed.

On the log in page, there is a check box 'Remember Me?'. If you enable this option before logging in, a more permanent cookie will be stored by your browser (but for exactly the same purpose). This will allow you to revisit the site for the next 7 days without having to re-enter credentials. After this time, the cookie will expire and you will be required to provide your credentials again.

Cookies created by the Nuno™ website are never used to track any aspect of your browsing either within our site or elsewhere on the web.
